Operation

Day-Cordova

After initial postponement, pilots turned out for this long awaited day mission in honor of Skunk Day. The day star was out but the weather was perfect and the Fall leaves provided a perfect backdrop for the day. While the plan was to depart at 1300 hours, there was a delay in the flight plan. I am not going to name names as to why we were delayed, but it rhymes with "combat". Anyway we finally got going slightly behind our initial schedule.

Dr. Claw led the battalion through the Minuteman wormhole where we passed through the Arlington and Lexington systems and then left the wormhole and entered the Concord system. Here Wombat had a mechanical due to a primary thruster plasma casing being attacked by a weasel with a switchblade. After a quick field repair we continued on our route.

Most of our route was free of negi g-well. But that changed as we entered into the Lincoln system. The g-well was overwhelming to some pilots who were forced to spacewalk. But just as we were losing hope, we were greeted by a sign for free apple molecules and took advantage to refuel. Badcat's ship sustained some wear and tear from the g-well so we made a quick adjustment to El Guapo's navigational thruster before continuing on. At this point we realized time was running out for us to meet our mission objective. The Luna DeCordova only allowed entry until 1700 hours, and it was 1600 hours. Immediately we boarded our ships and took off for our destination.

We arrived at Luna Decordova with enough time for a quick reconnaissance of the premises. Statues were admired. Art was enjoyed--well kind of--as there was no touching allowed. A highlight was an enormous chainlink fence prison enclosure that was completely covered in handbeaded strands. Millions of them! We then had a brief picnic to refuel before heading back to the fort. Yer Mom roughed up Tanager a little too much for her liking , so she swapped ships with Everest for the return flight who was eager to ride YerMom (Isn't everyone, though?).

We decided to take a more direct way back to the fort by following Planet Trapelo towards the Waltham system. Unfortuanately there was some negi g-well on this route too leading to two spacewalks.

We stopped at Luna Wagon Wheels for some homemade cider grenades. Dead Bride was thrilled about this because she didn't get any on the century while Periious did not let his lack of a utensil get in his way of consuming blueberry pie molecules by the handful. Once our fueling was complete we returned to base through the deep space Minuteman Wormhole. Within the wormhole we briefly met up with Excess who then disappeared shortly thereafter.

Near Alewife Constellation, an ST hailed Pastry Queen to ask her about a "transport on the wormhole". We can only assume that some confused suburban Food had mistaken the dazzling lasers and heavy sonic disruptors of AMP Shockwave for a transport.

We returned to the landing pad around 2000 hours, with plenty of time to join in the night mission, and with all initial pilots intact and (mostly) without injury. Dr.Claw nominated Everest for a Medal of Valor for her heroic ship switch, and Tanager took a Medal of Injury for her bleeding leg courtesy of Yer Mom. Skunk also awarded a Medal of Strength to anyone who felt they deserved one for surviving the evil g-wells.
