Chasing Down the Day Star: Parts 1 & 2

It has been two years since the Starchasers were officially inducted into SCULfleet. In that time, the 4th Division has become a shining symbol of funkadelic freedom in the Secret Sector and her surrounding star systems. We have explored uncharted areas of deep space and broken the time barrier. We battled an ancient space giant and resurrected a few others. We even traversed the dimensional boundaries between life and death. What will the next year bring? Only time will tell...

Day One: Stardate 140927s.1330

On this day, the 3rd Annual Starchasers Day Weekend, two pilots from SCUL Prime, Epoxy and Dead Bride were intercepted by 4 pilots from the Star Chaser Division on their trek into the darkness of the New Bedford System. Mad Owl, Baggadonuts, Nopes "The Mayor" Morcus, and Division Admiral Civitron met the visiting constituents of the 1st Division at the heavy transport docking station in the Middleboro/Lakeville System, together continuing the long journey to Fort Jonathan.

Mad Owl bravely piloted Angry Candy through heavy transport traffic but soon fell victim to space madness and a busted propulsion transfer conduit before stumbling into the deep space lair of "Crazy Dave". He was later recovered by ground support transporter. The remaining pilots hustled over many nebula and through the Sherwood Constellation to Civitron's house we go but Starhustler had other ideas. Resulting from a short notice call to starboard, the ship suffered damage to her primary retros. A short stop to examine the situation revealed that a repair would have to wait until we arrived at our destination. Baggadonuts had to fly ahead to meet an expectant civilian associate, while Epoxy and Dead Bride muscled through the malfunction under the setting Day Star.

Later, back at Fort Jonathan, Beatleman, Baggadonuts, Mad Owl and Ashera awaited our pilots. Food was wrangled from the Luna No Problemo and molecules were ingested in celebration of Starchaser Day! Not only was it the 2nd anniversary of the officiation of the Starchaser Division but of Mad Owl's first flight with SCUL. Lightsaber in hand, before a ceremonial flame, Admiral Civitron knighted the young pilot for his bravery and dedication.

The rest of the evening was kind of a blur of dancing, laughing, and grown men fawning over and giving sweet sweet kisses to a tiny purple Octopus with the most magnificent eyes. That night, as the NB System slept, the Starchasers were ravaged by werewolves from planet Lycanthropia!

Day Two: Stardate 140928x.0900

As the Day Star emerged from it's hidey hole and began spewing it's deadly beautiful solar flares across the galaxy, the Casa del Civitron began to slowly return to life. Soon, the entire fort was buzzing with pilots preparing their equipment for their eventual return home. However, it was first most imperative that we refuel our party-weary ugly giant bags of mostly water. We were joined by Sprocket and Dreadflint for breakfast at Luna Cobblestones. Then, we space-walked under the oppressive heat of the Day Star, through the historical district of the New Bedford System along the Acushnet Nebula, partaking in the local flavor of the system that once lit the cosmos at the "Working Nebula Festival".

We returned to Ft. J to continue our mission readiness campaign. Dreadflint pulled from every resource he could muster to make the necessary repairs to Starhustler's Nexus 7. Fleet Admiral Skunk was even called in to assist via top secret subspace frequency. Finally, after much tinkering and toiling, the ship was once again spaceworthy and it was time to blast off into deep space. As the Day Star set once more on this Starchasers Day Weekend and we said farewell to our cousins from the Northern Quadrant, Civitron reflected on the years past and looked forward for the years to come. Thrusters on full. Steady as she goes...

And then, Sprocket collided with the pavement, reopening old wounds, bleeding all over the transporter pad and laughing all the way home.
